Today, my workplace celebrated Wiesen with the children! While there was no beer, there was plenty of apfelschorle, pretzels aplenty, potato salad and lots of meat (leberkase and wurst). We sang and danced for a large portion of the day, including the Flieger song which we sang at least 15 times.
All of the teachers were encouraged to dress in their dirndls or lederhosen, as were the kids. It was the most awesome day and such a cultural experience for me!
I must share some photos as its just too cute not to!
I made some decorations for the classroom. Each class made their own, but they were all blue and white theme for Bavaria. We made a pretzel chain too!
Yes - I wore my dirndl to work. I was very excited to put on my dirndl for the first time and felt very pretty in it today! Even if I did look like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.
| Mmmmm - Lebkuchen! |
Below is what it looked like once the kids had arrived! They all tucked into the food.
Lastly - this is my class. This was mainly to show you how awesome they all looked in their outfits! I was so impressed with the costumes!
Now obviously this is not the real Wiesen - we are going to the real one this weekend we hope. So photos and stories will come. But for now, I couldn't not post about my awesome work day celebrations!
